Canton Daily Ledger Email Alerts: Sign up for daily headlinesCustomer Service: Subscribe Print this page The wife and daughter-in-law of former Canton residents died March 15, after working for several months at the Ground Zero site in New York.Debbie Reeve, 41, of Bronx, N.Y., died Wednesday (March 15, 2006) at Calvary Hospital in the Bronx, of mesothelioma, a rare form of cancer in her lungs.Born August 4, 1964, in Bronx, the daughter of Guillermo and Nereida Santos, she married David Andrew Reeve on August 8, 1992.

He survives.

David was a former Canton resident in the early 1960s.

Other survivors include her mother; two children, Elizabeth Janeane, 10, and Mark David, 6; and two brothers, Gil Santos and Tommy Santos.She was preceded in death by her father.She was a member of San Andres Presbyterian Church in the Bronx, where she was a director of the church.

Services were held March 20, at San Andres Presbyterian Church.

The services were attended by over 300 emergency services workers, in full dress, from all over the city, as well as from Canada, Boston and Orlando.

Real changes must occur: Consumers have the basic right-to-know, through explicit labeling, of known chemicals in consumer products.

Patients have the basic right-to-be-informed by their health care professionals of the carcinogenic risks of prescription drugs.

Provincial and local governments must utilize public databases to inform local citizens about carcinogenic hazards posed by chemical industries in their communities.
