Smoking ban backers rely on faulty evidence

...The EPA claims that you are 25 percent more likely to develop That sounds like quite an increase, but a normal person without exposure to passive smoke runs a 1:100,000 chance of developing According to the EPA, the chance increases to 1:80,000 if exposed to passive smoke.

In other words 10 people out of 1,000,000 will develop So only 2.5 people per million develop However the crux of my argument isn’t based on the non-existent or proven danger of second-hand smoke.

It lies on the property rights of business owners and liberties of all Americans.

Just because you don’t like something (in this case smoking) doesn’t give you the right to outlaw it.

I despise hip-hop, but you’ll never find me advocating it should be banned because I believe in free speech and expression and the right to self-determination.

No one is forcing you to enter an establishment that allows smoking and no one is forcing business owners to cater to smokers.

It’s a choice made by both respective parties, and to force them to do otherwise is in direct conflict with the values of liberty and democracy.
